The Eggental valley – a realm of hiking and skiing

All-round nature holidays in the Dolomites

The Eggental valley runs up from Bolzano/Bozen towards the Dolomite massifs of the Rosengarten and Latemar, itself the source of the stream that carved out the valley: all marked by rugged rock formations, lush meadows and steep mountain slopes. With its 530 kilometres of hiking trails and two ski areas, the valley is the ideal place for visitors to relax and enjoy life!

Hiking pleasures or fun in the snow

The Eggental valley is a place to relax in natural surroundings in summer and winter alike: from sporting challenges to gentle strolls and culinary treats, you will always find exactly what you’re looking for: this area is home to numerous mountain refuges and ski huts, together with countless kilometres of hiking trails and perfectly groomed pistes! Whether you are in Obereggen, an outstanding hiking and skiing area, or the hiking and family ski area of Carezza; in the villages of Deutschnofen/Nove Ponente, Welschnofen/Nova Levante and Petersberg/Monte San Pietro, or by the Karer See lake – the Eggental valley always keeps its promise of long-lasting memories of adventures in the Dolomites!

Something to see wherever you look!

After a drive of some 20 minutes up the winding road from the provincial capital of Bolzano, the gigantic Dolomites come into view, towering into the sky at the end of the valley. The Rosengarten and Latemar massifs are not the only sights worth seeing in the Eggental valley, however: this area boasts countless other wonders of nature and culture, including the fairy-tale Karer See lake, the Steinegg/Collepietra earth pyramids, the star village of Gummer/San Valentino, the Bletterbach gorge, the Eggental “mountain cinema”, the pilgrimage church of Maria Weissenstein – and much more besides. The Eggental valley that surrounds the Obereggen skiing and hiking area will slake your thirst, both for adventure and nature!
