Snowshoe Hiking
Hiking through a Winter Wonderland
For many people, the only way to explore the pristine snow-filled landscape of our region is possible only with snowshoes.
Snowshoes are by no means a recent invention. The native peoples of North America have been using them for thousands of years to be able to walk around in the wintertime without sinking into the deep snow. Snowshoes offer the additional advantage of minimizing the disturbance to wild animals, which might otherwise be frightened and forced to take flight in the deep snow, exhausting themselves unnecessarily.
In Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente, we offer guided snowshoe tours with Peter Unterhauser every Tuesday and Thursday. You can register at the tourism office. Meeting place: At the Wölflhof on Tuesdays and at the Hotel Pfösl on Thursdays - in Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente at 10:00 a.m. If there isn’t enough snow, the tours will be held at the Lavazé Pass or at the Jochgrimm.
Private snowshoe tours can be booked directly at the tourism office, phone: 0471 616567.
