Hikers and nature enthusiasts will find almost unlimited prospects here: Easy to medium-hard hiking routes which will lead you along blossoming fields, forests, and verdant meadows – all the way up to challenging climbs. Hiking in the Eggen/Ega Valley is great for children and adults alike. You're sure to take home lots of unforgettable moments!

From May till November the tourism office offers an interesting and wide-ranging hiking program:

Accompanied hiking tours with Herbert Pichler – Hikes to summits, cultural and historical hikes

Accompanied hiking tours with Alexander Bisan – Geological hikes, Kneipp therapy / health hikes

Gamsstall Gap – Pisa Alpine Hut
This is a medium-difficult hike over mountain slopes and rocky terrain to the Latemar, on to the Gamsstall Gap, onto the summit and to the Pisa Alpine Hut. It affords a beautiful panoramic view. The Pisa Alpine Hut is hosted.Ascend with the chair lift and continue on uphill from the mountain station (2,150 meters) on Trail 18 to the Gamsstall Gap (2,560 meters). Continue via Trail 516 to the Pisa Alpine Hut. Descend via Trails 516 and 22 to the Mayrlboden (2,037 meters). Return via the Oberholz chair lift to Obereggen.

Hikes through the Meadows of Eggen/Ega Valley
An easy hike across Alpine meadows below the impressive mountain scenery of the Latemar and the Zanggen. You can reach the meadows from Obereggen by car. There is a partial driving prohibition from mid-June till mid-September.From the upper parking lot, take the Alm Trail [9] slightly uphill until you come to the first Alm (meadow) Epircher-Laner-Alm (40 minutes) Alm Trail [9]. After 1 km, you will come to a fork. Take the left path up to the Meierl Alm (30 minutes) or continue on the Trail via the Reiter Pass (1,996 meters) until you come to the Ganischger Alm and the Zischg Alm (30 minutes). Return: Back to the Mayrl Alm and, in 20 minutes, to the mountain station of the Oberholz chair lift. (50 minutes from the Zischg Alm).

Hike to the Epircher Laner
From the upper parking lot, take the Alm Trail [9] slightly uphill until you come to the first Alm (meadow) Epircher-Laner-Alm (40 minutes). Continue on Trail [10 and 11] via Durabühl and Grosswiesen and return to Obereggen (1 hour and 30 minutes).

To the Enzbirch Stone-Age Settlement
This Stone-Age settlement includes a hilltop with heavy overgrowth, the ruins of a walled fortress, and a great look-out point with a view of the Etsch/Adige Valley.From the village center Gibitzplatz beneath the Pension Holzer. Turn left into the Old Church Trail [K] and continue across meadows and past handsome farmsteads until you come to the Högger Inn (2 hours). Then Schadnerhof on Trail [T] in 30 minutes downhill to the rocky outcropping. Return: Wölflhof [1] (2 hours).

Kohlern - Aerial Tram – Bozen/Bolzano
This hike offers a lot of variety as you pass through high-altitude woods and across fields.
From the village center, proceed on Trail [EW5,1] until you come to the Wölflhof (1 hour). Take Forest Trail [1] to the Toten Moos (1 hour). [1] (a 5-minute side-trip to the Rotwand is rewarding) . Proceed to the Schneiderwiesen Inn until you come to the Bauernkohlern Inn (2 hours). Take the aerial tram to Bozen/Bolzano (please note tram schedule!). From the Kampill/Longiarù valley station, take the city bus (runs half-hourly) to the center. Return to Deutschnofen / Nova Ponente by bus.

To Weissenstein/Pietralba
This is an easy hike through meadows and forests. The final 1 km is a steep uphill hike.

Panorama Rundwanderung
This is a rather long but easy and very rewarding roundtrip tour affording you splendid views of the Dolomites and Alps.From the village center, proceed to the Café Bar Luise. Continue along the road towards the Pfösl Chapel. Take the first Trail [6] to the left downhill. Soon afterwards, take the right Trail [P]. You will pass by the "Schlernblick House" (splendid view) until you come to the Weissbamerhof (it is possible to divert from the trail and proceed to St. Helena – 10 minutes) -> pass to the left of the farmstead until you come to the Moserhöfen. Continue to the lower right on Trail [P]. In 10 minutes, you'll come to the Hotel Pfösl. Or proceed on Trail [H] behind the Untermoserhof on field paths to the Biehlhof and then return to the Café Bar Luise (1 hour).

To the Bletter Brook Gorge
A hike with many geologically interesting sights.
Starting from the Pilgrims' House Trail [S] Schmiederalm [G] Lahneralm (1 hour) Geo Center, and then down to the floor of the brook into the gorge and then continue on Trail G back to the Lahneralm (1 hour). Finally, proceed on Trail 3 into the Köser Valley and continue on the Trail [E5 – 3 -4 -9] back to the starting-point.
