Saving Fuel / Boosting Mileage
By modifying your driving style, you can reduce your vehicle's consumption of fuel. The advantages of doing this are obvious: On one hand, you vehicle will then emit less pollution, thus reducing the environmental burden. On the other hand, you will boost your mileage and so use less fuel, thus saving money. But a modified driving style can also improve overall traffic safety. We'd like to give you the following hints for saving fuel. Don't warm up your engine unnecessarily; instead, start your engine and drive away. Shift gears at the right time: When accelerating, shift up into a higher gear well before reaching 2,000 r.p.m. And later on, when you are decelerating, wait long enough before shifting down to a lower gear.

When in the first gear, accelerate for only a few meters, and then immediately shift to a higher gear. At 50 to 70 km/h, if traffic conditions allow, you can already shift to your highest gear.

Avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking maneuvers, and try to coast whenever possible.

Driving fast consumes a lot of fuel. The optimal fuel consumption is at approx. 50 to 70 km/h.

You'll enjoy initial savings right after 20 seconds.

Don't over-use accessories! Use your lights, heater, and air conditioner only when necessary!

Check your tire pressure at least once a month! Take your car in for maintenance on a regular basis!

When purchasing a vehicle, take its mileage (fuel consumption) and emissions into account right from the start.

Extra weight means lower mileage! So take along your luggage rack, ski containers, etc. only if really necessary.

Especially in downtown areas, cars are often the slowest form of transportation.

Whenever possible, make use of public transportation, car-sharing, or ride-sharing exchanges. There are lots of alternatives to driving a car!
