In Obereggen, the snow's gold. That's not our claim – that's what the experts from Skiarea-Test say! After conducting inspections in the most important ski areas of Austria, Italy, France, Slovenia, and Switzerland, they came to the conclusion that Obereggen had the best-groomed ski slopes in the entire Alpine region, as well as the best artificial snow generation equipment. And that's not all! Josef Gummerer, our man in charge of caring for the slopes, was also named "Slope-Master of the Year." This award recognizes his achievements as a true "magician of compact snow," made using only water. This high-quality snow is then distributed over the slopes via 125 snow cannons, thus guaranteeing perfect wintertime fun. This is undoubtedly one of the main reasons that, this year, too, Webportal Skigebiete-test.de awarded Obereggen the greatest number of points in the categories "Experienced Skiers," "Families," and "Snowboarders."
Obereggen Has the Best Ski Slopes
According to the international ski area test conducted by "Skiarea-Test," Obereggen has the best-groomed ski slopes in the entire Alpine region, the best artificial snow generation equipment, and employs the "Slope-Master of the Year" (Josef Gummerer).
The Obereggen Ski Area made a really clean sweep of the trophies during the most-recent comparison and rating of ski resorts conducted by Skiarea-Test. Over the course of the last 15 years, Skiarea-Test has come to be recognized as a leading evaluator of the quality of European winter tourist areas. At the eagerly anticipated awards ceremony held during the Alpitec/Prowinter trade fair in mid-April of 2008, Siegfried Pichler, the director of Obereggen AG, and his employees won a total of three prizes. The awards were presented by the Provincial Councilman for Tourism, Thomas Widmann.
1) In the category "Slope Grooming, Slope Preparation, and Slope Safety," Obereggen was the only one of the 26 tested ski areas to achieve the highest-possible number of points (6.0) – and was therefore awarded the prestigious "Golden Seal of Slope Approval."
2) Together with six other ski areas, Obereggen also shared the award for "Best Snow Generation Equipment."
3) And the proverbial "icing on the cake" was the awarding of the title "Slope-Master of the Year" to Obereggen's own Josef Gummerer, a senior employee of Obereggen AG.
The Skiarea-Test team consists of 220 experienced members. In the past winter season, the team closely examined 26 ski areas in Austria, Italy, France, Slovenia, and Switzerland –anonymously. The phenomenally good results achieved by Obereggen are thus all the more praise-worthy.
These prestigious awards can be viewed as further confirmation of the conscientious and professional work of the employees of Obereggen AG.
